Vandalism at Little Paxton Cemetery

In 2012, Little Paxton Parish Council installed an old style village hand water pump at Little Paxton Lawn Cemetery to enable visiting relatives to water flowers on their 'loved ones' memorials.

The water pump has been much admired and remarked upon by the visitors to the cemetery.

Yesterday the water pump was reported stolen and the base has been smashed.
It is thought the vandalism occurred between 11 am Wednesday 11th February and 2pm on Thursday 12th February.

Parish Clerk Jenny Gellatly said, 'This is thoughtless, mindless vandalism and is unacceptable. To steal something from a cemetery is beyond believe.'

If anyone has any information, please contact the Police Tel 101 quoting reference number CF0058720215.

Village Consultation

As part of the 2012 Jubilee Celebrations, Little Paxton Parish Council, along with the help of children from Little Paxton School, planted an oak tree on the grass verge on Gordon Road (near the High Street). A bronze plaque was erected beside the tree to record the occasion.

The Parish Council would like to install seating beside or around the Jubilee tree along with small sensory garden.

The Council invites and welcomes resident's comments on this project.

Parish Councillor Diane Alder said 'A sensory garden would provide a beautiful enhancement to the Jubilee tree'.

Please forward all comments on the project to the Parish Clerk, 11 Hayling Avenue, Little Paxton PE19 6HG or email littlepaxton@hotmail.com by the 6th March.
