After a successful local campaign between Little Paxton Village Hall Committee & Little Paxton Parish Council, over 60 residents attended the public meeting on 7th December in Little Paxton Village hall to attract new members to join the Village Hall Committee.
Twelve residents have agreed to join the Little Paxton Village Hall Management Committee and are now signed up as Trustees.
Parish Clerk, Jenny Gellatly said,' The attendance at the public meeting was
over whelming and I am delighted that a new Village Hall Management Committee has been formed and the village hall saved'.
Little Paxton Village Hall which is used by over 16 village groups will close at the end of the year unless residents come forward and join a new Management Committee.
The three remaining members of the Village Hall Management Committee (VHMC) are standing down. They have agreed to provide a three month hand over period.
Earlier in the year the VHMC tried to attract new members to no avail.
The VHMC has contacted Little Paxton Parish Council for help to attract new members for a new Committee.
The hall will only remain open if residents come along to a public meeting on Saturday 7th December 10.30am-11.30am in the village hall and join the new Management Committee.
Mrs Liz Timms, Committee Member, said 'The village hall is an asset to the local community and if the hall were to close this would have a major impact on the village'.
The Village Hall Management Committee meets once a month and meetings last approx 1.5 hours.
Parish Clerk Jenny Gellatly said' Little Paxton needs its village hall. It provides a meeting place for so many village groups including groups for the elderly, mums & toddlers and line dancing to name but a few. If the hall were to close this would also affect annual events such as Paxfest, Scarecrow Festival, November Fayre, Quiz nights etc.'

In the event of snow & ice,Little Paxton Parish Council will grit the footpath from the entrance to the playing field, High Street to the Doctors Surgery, The Rookery Steps and the footpath through St. James' Church. Gritting will take place on the days the Groundsman normally works (i.e. Mon- Fri). There will be no gritting at weekends.

A Neighbourhood Plan is a community-led framework for guiding the future development, regeneration and conservation of the town. It's about the use and development of land. The Plan can deal with a wide range of social, economic and environmental issues or it can focus on one or two issues. These will be issues that are relevant to the whole town.
The Neighbourhood Plan will be subject to a public referendum. Once the plan has been subjected to independent examination and any necessary modifications made to ensure it meets important legal requirements, it will be necessary to gain a more than 50% 'yes' vote of those voting in the public referendum in order to bring it into force.

It's time to get your running shoes on as Little Paxton Parish Council has agreed to organise the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Little Paxton Mile on the 23rd March 2014 starting at the Queen Elizabeth II Playing Field, Little Paxton and finishing at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve.
There will be routes for 1, 3 and 6 miles. The 3 and 6 miles runs start at 10.30am and the one mile run starts at 10.45am and 11am.
Register early and for a limited period there is a reduced registration fee Adult £3
(normally £6), Child £1.50 ( normally £3) and family £7.50 ( normally £15).

Little Paxton Parish Council would like to thank readers for contacting the Council regarding the missing memorial at Little Paxton Cemetery for the late Brian Stephenson.
The family has now been traced and the Council's records have been updated accordingly.

Section 1, 2 and 3 of the Audit is on display at the St. James Road Notice Board, St James Road, Little Paxton
Little Paxton Parish Council is trying to trace the family members for a memorial that has been removed from Little Paxton Cemetery.
In February, a memorial for the late Brian Stephenson was removed from the lawn cemetery without permission and the memorial has never been returned.
Initially, it was thought that perhaps a stone mason who is not local and unaware of the Council Memorial's Registration Scheme may have removed the headstone for further work. Six months have passed and there is no sign of the return memorial.
Parish Clerk Jenny Gellatly said' This is a most unusual situation as memorials are not normally removed without prior notification. The memorial base has not been removed which gives the indication that the memorial would be returned.'
The black, granite memorial has a unique picture of Stephenson's Rocket etched on the bottom left corner.
The Council has no current contact details for Stephenson family and would ask that if readers know any details about the whereabouts of the late Brian Stephenson' family to contact the Clerk.
