'Bringing the seaside to Little Paxton'
Little Paxton’ annual village fete ‘Paxfest & Fun Dog Show’ will take place on Saturday 8th July. The event is held on the Queen Elizabeth II Playing Field and Village Hall, Little Paxton from 12 noon – 4.45pm
This year, Paxfest 2017 will be having a shorts, shade & seaside theme.
Cllr Jean Matheson said ‘As part of the seaside theme, there will be two beautiful donkeys providing rides for children on the playing field bringing the seaside to Little Paxton. The donkeys can also be petted. There will also be a free bucket treasure hunt where children can search all the stalls for the buckets and their treasure.’
The cake competition is back with a seaside theme. All cakes to be delivered to the Little Paxton Village Hall between 10.30am & 11.30am. Cakes can be any size, must be edible with no fresh cream. There will be an adult & children classes with fabulous prizes.
Parish Clerk Jenny Gellatly said ‘The seaside wouldn’t be the same without a stick of rock. So in keeping with the seaside theme there is going to be specially made ‘Paxfest 2017’ rock. Children can receive a stick of rock if they have a donkey ride, have their face painted, take part in the bucket treasure hunt or try the cricket bowling machine. The face painting, treasure hunt and cricket bowling machine are free activities.’
The Dog Show starts at 1pm with registration opening at 12 noon and is Ł1.50 per dog per class. There are 15 classes including best small, medium & large dog classes.
New for 2017 - there will be a ‘30 minute’ Community barn Dance’ at 3pm in the centre arena when there is a break in the dog show.
There will musical entertainment from Bedford Pipe Band who will open the event, Little Paxton School Choir, Porterhouse Jazz 6, Rushden Town Band and three Mr. Marvel Magic Shows.
Many village groups & organisations have stalls and there will be a beer tent, bbq, refreshments, candy floss and games.
This is a free event with lots of entertainment for all the family.
